Daktronics has designed, manufactured and installed a five-display centre-hung system and free-form marquee display for the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.

The centre-hang comprises four displays, each of which is 4m high by 7m wide. Below these is a ring display that is 1m high and 22m in circumference. All five displays feature a 2.6mm pixel pitch.

The four main video displays are capable of variable content zoning, which allows them to feature one large image or to be divided into multiple zones to show any combination of live video, replays, statistics, graphics and animations, and messages.

Outside the arena, a marquee display is created using free-form LED elements. These transparent elements are mounted to the building’s exterior to form a display measuring 9m by 32m. The pixel spacing is 10.4mm high and 20.8mm wide.

The marquee provides a versatile display that can promote upcoming events while also delivering sponsorship messages and other arena announcements.

Mathieu Verbraken, development manager at Daktronics Dubai, said: “The displays are on par with the world-class status of this venue.”
