Outernet London’s The Butterfly Trail will now continue “for the foreseeable future” in an expansion of its run.

The mixed reality (MR) experience, which has been created by Pixel Artworks, has attracted thousands of visitors since launching on 5 September.

Visitors to the free experience in the Now Building are guided through explorer Professor Peter Pelegrin’s Botanical Workshop and into his Glass House, where they can interact with the experience without the need for a special device, headset or downloaded mobile app – just the browser on their smartphone.

The attraction marks the first use of 8th Wall’s WebAR platform with Unreal animations to create an MR experience. The interactive ‘Metamorphosis Machine’ experience, which starts with a skills-based slingshot game, has been built in partnership with production studio Aircards.
