Absen has provided a third LED screen for Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

The installation is part of an ongoing five-year, £200m redevelopment of the venue, which has previously seen SR10 S outdoor LED screens installed in the Compton and Edrich stands.

Each of these screens has a 10mm pixel pitch and measures 11.52m by 6.4m. A brightness of 8,500 nits ensures the screens – which display match updates, replays and advertisements – can be viewed even in bright sunlight.

The new SR10 S LED measures 20m by 5.76m and has a brightness of 10,000 nits. It has been installed within the Allen Stand.

The SR Series boasts independent LED sealing, with elements of the screen wrapped in protective fibreglass to guarantee a waterproofing rate of IP65. In addition, it also guarantees resistance from extreme heat, severe cold, acids, alkalis and salt spray, ensuring a longer lifespan. The displays can be monitored remotely and support connection via a PC, laptop or smartphone.

Jeff Wollen, chief information officer at Marylebone Cricket Club, whose members own Lord’s, said: “The power and data redundancy built into the Absen SR10 S mean there is no downtime with the screens, while the ease of servicing allows our local engineers to support the screens at short notice and with minimum intervention times, if there are any issues.”

Ross Burling, Absen’s industry development director for DooH and sports, said: “With a full portfolio of products specifically for the DooH and sports market, Absen can match the requirements of each individual project or installation.”

Ashleigh Signs acted as Absen’s systems integration partner on the project.
