Crisis management centre equipped with Sony Crystal LED

A crisis management centre in Turkey is using Sony Crystal LED with a 1.26mm pixel pitch to monitor information on natural, technological and man-made disasters.

AKOM – which opened in Istanbul in 2000, 16 months after an earthquake killed more than 17,000 people in Turkey – is the control centre for ensuring the optimal allocation of tasks, coordination of activities and cooperation between emergency services during crises

It is home to a dedicated control centre with an integrated smart conference room that provides staff with 24/7 access to data and information. The control room features a 970cm by 410cm Sony Crystal-LED display in a configuration of 16 B-series modules by 12.

The X1TM processor used in Crystal-LED displays – which features 22-bit Super Bit Mapping technology, Reality Creation and MotionflowTM – ensures accurate colour reproduction, as well as clear tonal transitions without loss of dynamic detail.

The display’s anti-glare surface technology and wide viewing angle ensure any information on the screens is visible from anywhere in the room, even in bright sunshine.

AKOM has become a model for similar organisations, in terms of its technology and ergonomics.
