LG and Odeon Multicines have announced the opening of the first cinema to combine 100% LED screens with Dolby Atmos.

The Odeon cinema is based in a recently opened extension to the Gran Plaza 2 Shopping Centre in Majadahonda in the greater metroplitan area of Madrid.

The cinema hosts more than 200 sq metre of LG Miraclass LED displays. These 2.5mm pixel pitch displays can show more than eight million pixels. With DCI P3 colour accuracy, they are also capable of displaying up to 68,700 million different colours.

The brightness of the display can be configured from 48 to 300 nits, which is almost ten times higher than traditional cinema projection systems.

Three rooms at the cinema have 55 sq metre 4K screens, with a capacity of between 60 and 120 seats each. Three further rooms have a screen area of 14 sq metres each, and can accommodate up to 40 people.

All screening rooms also benefit from LG’s Multi V air conditioning solution which offers a 40% improvement on traditional rooftop air-conditioning equipment, significantly reducing the energy consumption associated with air conditioning in large spaces.
