This time last year, when we looked at the top stories of 2022, we found a range of topics on people’s minds.

There was the novelty and challenges of Microsoft Teams Rooms. There was pressure to cut digital signage energy usage in Germany. There was a prediction that supply chain shortages would come to an end. And that’s not to mention some drone-controlled dolphin balloons at a Phish concert, and, of course, the ever-popular AV Awards.

This year there is one project that stands out above all, with different aspects appearing throughout the list of top stories of 2023. This is the Sphere in Las Vegas.

The news that U2 was to launch the world’s highest-resolution LED screen at the Sphere was our most popular story of the year.

Microsoft Teams was the runner-up topic with a story about plans to incorporate the technology behind ChatGPT in what became known as Copilot.

Our third most popular story comes from the world of live entertainment and involves a 1,500 drone dragon dancing in the sky above Shenzhen, China.

Below, we bring you the top three stories of the past two years and, separately, we are sharing more than 100 of our top stories, broken down by category.
