An immersive Elvis Presley concert experience will open in London in November.

Elvis Evolution will use AI and holographic projection to bring the ‘king of rock ’n’ roll’ to life from thousands of his personal photos and home-video footage.

The show is the brainchild of UK-based immersive entertainment company Layered Reality, which already operates the Gunpowder Plot, at the Tower of London, and Jeff Wayne’s The War of The Worlds: The Immersive Experience.

There are plans to roll out the attraction – which will also offer an Elvis-themed bar and restaurant – to Las Vegas, Toyko and Berlin.

The initiative will hope to match the success of Abba Voyage, which features life-sized ‘Abbatars’ performing the Swedish pop group’s hits in a purpose-built arena in east London.

The show, which opened in May 2022, sold more than a million tickets at up to £181 each in its first year, contributing £322.6 million to the British economy and making it London’s sixth-most-visited paid attraction.

US rock band Kiss have also unveiled ‘immortal’ digital avatars that will carry on their performances when band members are no longer able to tour.

Layered Reality chief executive Andrew McGuinness, who founded the company in 2017, said: “Elvis Evolution is a next-generation tribute to the musical legend that is Elvis Presley.

“Elvis maintains superstar status globally and people around the world no longer want to sit there and passively receive entertainment – they want to be a part of it.

“It’ll be a memory-making experience that will be a bucket-list item for Elvis fans and admirers around the world.”
