AV Freelancer Awards to celebrate ‘often overlooked’ heroes

The AV Freelancer Awards 2024 have been launched to celebrate an often overlooked sector of the industry’s workforce.

Organised by JacobsMassey, the AV recruitment, freelance deployment and event production agency, the awards will be celebrated at the Congress Centre in London on 19 January, 2024.

The headline sponsor is The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). Category sponsors include AV Magazine, AVIXA, the Congress Centre, Frameset UK, JacobsMassey, Media Powerhouse, and QIS Payment Solutions for the Professional Contractor.

Graeme Massey, managing director of JacobsMassey, said AV freelancers often missed out on recognition because they are not associated with one provider. But the AV Freelancer Awards would now provide a platform and a voice for them.

He added: “There are many awards ceremonies throughout the AV industry acknowledging product innovation, design, systems integration, and creative services. All of them offer a valuable insight into how AV companies, manufacturers, distributors and end users are developing AV technology. There are many very well-deserved nominees and for those lucky enough to win they provide testimony to their success.

“However, there is a sector so prevalent within the AV industry yet so often not awarded recognition and that is the freelance community. AV freelancers contribute enormously to the success of the user experience. In many cases, without their support and skill set, even with the most advanced technology, projects and events quite simply would not be able to be delivered.”
