Webex by Cisco is the first videoconferencing solution to be certified for use by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU).

The CJEU has been relying on Webex to host hybrid meetings and hearings, and after months of analysis, the European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) confirmed that the solution meets the rigorous rules for the processing of personal data by the EU’s institutions, bodies and agencies.

The CJEU handles highly sensitive cases and personal data that require extra precautions. The court’s technical and organisational measures, coupled with Webex’s privacy and security controls, were key elements allowing the collaboration solution to receive ratification by the EDPS.

Webex has date centres in Frankfurt and Amsterdam, which enables organizations to keep their data – from user-generated content such as files, messages and recordings to analytics data, logs, third-party services, user profiles and billing data – within the EU. Webex is the only collaboration platform supporting full EU data residency.

Cisco’s senior vice-president and general manager, Javed Khan, said: “I am proud that our commitments to security and privacy, such as our use of Zero-Trust End-to-End Encryption, meet the specific and rigorous rules for processing personal data. At Webex, we have always believed that security and privacy should be built in, not bolted on, and this approval further validates our dedication to that approach.”
