Coodart equips leading minerals firm with Stem ecosystem

Stem’s three pickup patterns have significantly improved audio quality for in-person and virtual attendees while audio fencing provides a protective bubble around speakers in a 14m-long room.

Smart technology and office design specialist Coodart has transformed the head office of one of Europe’s largest mineral producers with a Shure Stem Ecosystem.

The initial brief was to create a collaborative and comfortable working environment for employees. But after Coodart consulted with the client, the project’s scope shifted into a complete redesign of the conference room’s aesthetics to enhance acoustics and provide a space for efficient communication.

It was necessary to transform the boardroom into the perfect meeting space for colleagues attending in-person or virtually. As the room was more than 14m long, audio pickup was an important factor to take into consideration when planning the fit-out.

The Shure Stem Ecosystem provides a customisable solution that integrates with communication platforms such as Barco ClickShare and Huddly cameras. The solution included Stem table and ceiling speakers and microphones, combined with a Stem hub to connect the devices. The system’s flexibility allows extra devices to be added if and when needed.

The system’s three pickup patterns created an immediate and significant improvement in audio quality, not only for participants in the room, but also for those calling in remotely. Stem Ecosystem’s audio fencing provides a protective bubble’ around those speaking, blocking out irrelevant noise and focusing the audio pickup solely on the conference room table.

Coodart’s managing director, Philip Stoddart, says: “We worked hand-in-hand with the client from the inception of the design through to the final delivery. The Shure Stem solution gave us the advantage of not only a high-quality audio, microphone and speaker solution, but it also integrated perfectly into the design of the meeting space.

The Stem ecosystem is designed to take the complexity out of meeting rooms. Simply plug in your device and press the room adapt button, and the device will send out a series of tones that will be measured for reverberation, so the device can set itself up to sound perfect in that room.”
