Travelling open-air cinema company Adventure Cinema has bolstered its inventory of HK Audio loudspeakers for this year’s summer season to increase sound coverage at the outdoor venues it visits.

HK’s UK distributor, POLAR, supplied six Linear 5 LTS long-throw ultra compact cabinets, which were added to the tops of the central stacks.

Adventure Cinema screens a wide variety of movies, covering classics, musicals, blockbusters and family films, at castles, sports arenas and country estates around the UK, including Beaulieu, Belvoir Castle (pictured), Carlisle Racecourse, Castle Howard and Salisbury Cathedral.

Due to the amount of travelling undertaken by Adventure Cinema, company director Mark Thompson comments that keeping down transport costs and, increasingly, reducing environmental impact are major considerations.

“Essentially, we need the biggest and best quality sound from the smallest boxes possible,” he says. “The systems also need to be exceptionally durable and reliable as they are in virtually constant use throughout the season. The Linear 5 system has enabled us to provide incredible sound for outdoor audiences of up to 1,500, deploying just eight loudspeakers, saving space in transit. The LTS units now enable us to more effectively send dialogue from films across larger event spaces without increasing left and right levels.”
