ISE has added Barcelona’s L’illa Mall to its programme of Tech Tours, organised in partnership with the Clúster Audiovisual de Catalunya.

The first mall built in Barcelona, which has an annual footfall of 16 million visitors and is recognised as one of the city’s premier shopping destinations, revealed its renovated space in December 2023.

The tour will showcase aspects of the mall’s architecture and design, with an emphasis on the innovative lighting concept integrated into the ceiling.

In collaboration with architecture firm BatlleRoig and studio Lighting Artec, Lumalia Studio has brought to life a dynamic surface of 1,100 sq metres.

The installation comprises more than 200,000 meticulously distributed pixels, providing a broad spectrum of colours with RGBW LEDs. Every element – from the panels to the tensioned textiles – was custom-designed for seamless integration, creating an immersive fusion of lighting and display.

The experience is enhanced by four strategically placed LED screens, crafted by LEDDREAM Group, which also supplied the lighting for the digital ceiling. These elements contribute to the overall aesthetic, providing a distinctive visual journey for visitors.

The renovation is presented as a transformation that redefines the experience of art, fashion and culture in the heart of Barcelona. L’Illa Mall is designed to be an urban refuge where creativity, technology and architecture converge, promising an unforgettable experience for those exploring the space.

The ISE Tech Tour will take place from 9am to 11am on Friday, 2 February. To register, click here.
