Gaia Gallery Launches With A-V

Two new a-v centric interactive galleries are opening in the GAIA centre of ecology at the Goulandris Natural History Museum in Athens.

The Gaia galler

The galleries in the Gaia museum in Athens have been designed by Furneaux Stewart, which worked on the project in conjunction with London’s Natural History Museum. The visitor experience is divided into three areas looking at the fundamental processes of the natural world; at human impact on the planet; and at potential solutions to the challenges caused by man’s interaction with the ecosystem. The finale – a reminder of the need for teamwork – is a ‘global village wall’ which uses touch-sensitive plinths that progressively illuminate images of a balanced ecosystem when visitors simultaneously press the plinths.Different displays techniques – including vitrines, Privalite glass, water projection and touch screens – are used throughout the exhibit. Examples include projecting the water cycle story onto a cascade and images of pollution created by the energy industry on Privalite screens which clear when a ‘solutions’ button is pressed.01225 318000www.furneaux-stewart.com
